Biography - Bill Shaw

Bill Shaw is an experienced criminal attorney who focuses his practice on the representation of clients facing serious felony crimes. Among other things, Bill represents clients charged with Murder, Rape, Burglary, Robbery, Child Abuse, White Collar Crime, and Drug-Related Offenses. Bill also represents clients for criminal appeals and PCRA proceedings.

Before creating the Shaw Law Group, Bill served 16 years as the elected District Attorney for Clearfield County. Before that, Bill served as the First Assistant District Attorney and as an Assistant District Attorney in Clearfield. Bill has 24 years of experience as a prosecuting attorney and is responsible for the prosecution of nearly 15,000 criminal cases. Bill has successfully prosecuted well over 150 criminal trials.

Bill’s extensive experience as a District Attorney provides him with valuable insight into how police and prosecutors think. Bill was a prosecutor and knows all of the procedures and protocols used by law enforcement. Bill brings this valuable set of skills to help defend his clients who have been charged with serious crimes.

After retiring from the District Attorney’s Office, Bill opened the Shaw Law Group. During his first two years in private practice as a Defense Attorney, Bill and his firm successfully had murder charges thrown out pre-trial and a separate murder conviction overturned during PCRA proceedings. Bill had a third murder conviction overturned during the appeal process. Bill was able to secure the withdrawal of very serious sex-related charges wrongly filed against a Client. Bill also had charges thrown out against a Client when the police acted wrongly in filing criminal charges.

Bill knows the Criminal Justice System and he knows what to look for when reviewing the work of police and prosecutors. Bill completely understands the burden of police and Bill knows where the police fall short in their investigations. Bill uses his vast experience as a prosecuting attorney to gain justice for his clients.

Bill has extensive experience with the Grand Jury system and represents Clients facing Grand Jury proceedings. White-collar crime and drug offenses routinely appear in front of the Grand Jury and Bill has the experience necessary to assist Clients who may face the Grand Jury.

Biography - Stacy Parks

Stacy R. Parks is a Partner at the Shaw Law Firm. In her legal career spanning 29 years, Attorney Parks has successfully litigated high stakes, high profile, complex trials. While other lawyers were sitting at desks, she was battling some of the toughest cases, adversaries, and issues in the courtrooms across Pennsylvania. Her cases have impacted, and in some cases, changed Pennsylvania law. Stacy was the first woman District Attorney in Centre County and was responsible for the prosecution of over 24,000 matters.

Stacy started her career as a criminal defense attorney in 1994. She next worked as a deputy coroner and Assistant District Attorney in Clearfield County where she was promoted to First Assistant DA, until she moved to Centre County in 2001 to become a shareholder at Miller Kistler and Campbell. Her practice focused on criminal defense, along with civil litigation, and family law. Stacy defended serious crimes for another 9 years. Stacy successfully defended PSU Football players allowing them to pursue NFL Careers and set precedent in the “Mifflin Streak” case which made national news. 

Stacy was well prepared to take the lead as Centre County’s first woman District Attorney and chief law enforcement officer in 2010. Stacy served two terms as Centre County District Attorney until she returned to private practice focusing on criminal defense in 2019. 

Stacy, skilled and aggressive in complicated trials, has personally tried to successful verdict a wide range of cases including Homicides, Homicide by Vehicle DUI, Rape, Robbery, and Child Abuse cases. Stacy started Centre County’s First Grand Jury leading to groundbreaking prosecutions, including the largest prosecution for a hazing death in PA history for Tim Piazza’s death, covered nationally by press. Stacy especially enjoys helping those who have been wrongfully convicted get the justice they desire. She has successfully won new trials for client’s who had been convicted of murder and in another matter, felony aggravated assault. 

Stacy works as a featured legal analyst for TV and Media and has appeared on a variety of major network shows. There is unlikely to be any situation Stacy Parks Miller is unfamiliar with in the criminal realm. Stacy has worked on both sides of the Courtroom in criminal law, a unique pedigree which allows her to anticipate and explain an opponent’s next move.

Stacy’s trials have been made into television specials, documentaries, made for TV movies, have been featured on Oxygen, 20/20, Dateline, the Discovery Channel. Stacy has been a featured guest analyst on shows such as Hardball, GMA, Megyn Kelly, Dr. Oz, Martha MacCallum, Great Van Susteren among others.

She enjoys fighting for the underdog. When you are up against serious adversaries, you want Stacy by your side in the Courtroom.

Biography - Jennifer Shaw

Jennifer is a Graduate of the Duquesne University where she majored in Communications and Marketing and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelors Degree.  Jennifer enrolled in the Duquense Univeristy School of Law and graduated with a Juris Doctorate Degree.  Upon graduation, Jenneifer served as a law clerk for President Judge John H. Foradora in Jefferson County.  Jennifer then began her legal career as a partner in the law firm of Shaw and Shaw.  Jennifer has worked as the compliance officer for the only privately run Federal Prison in Pennsylvania.  Jennifer currently works as the Director of Risk and Regulatory for Penn Highlands DuBois. 

Jennifer is an experienced and passionate attorney who thrives on seeking justice and fairness for her clients.  Jennifer serves the Shaw Law Group as Of Counsel.  

Jennifer focuses on administrative law and has extensive experience in prisoner litigation, civil rights, the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA), and private prison regulations.  Jennifer also has extensive experience with hospital administration, including regulatory compliance.

Biography - Marty

Marty was trained by inmates to be a fully accredited service dog for those in need. Shortly before graduation, Marty developed a dislike for canes and wheelchairs. Marty retired to the home of Bill and Jennifer Shaw where he lives as an ordinary good boy. 

Marty is highly intelligent and cares deeply about all of our clients. Marty knows scores of commands, and might be heard lightly snoring in the background of calls to the office. In a pinch, he could act as a paralegal. When you are having a ruff day, Marty makes it better.

Likes: scratches, praise, treats and wearing bow ties.

Dislikes: diets, invisible fences and late dinner times.
